Sustainability

As a bus operator working across the region, Ötztaler makes a valuable contribution to environmentally friendly mobility and to reducing private vehicle traffic. Our forward-looking philosophy, combined with the principles of efficiency and technological progress, paves the way to a liveable future.

Innovative fleet

Hardly any of our vehicles is older than 6 years – the average age is 3.5 years. The fleet therefore benefits from the latest drive technology for maximum efficiency at minimum consumption. We exclusively use fuels designed to burn as cleanly as possible. For vehicle coatings we rely on innovative water-based paints as an environmentally friendly alternative.

Modern fuels

Honest, clean, renewable: with HVO 100 (short for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils) we rely on an innovative fuel that is friendly to the climate while still delivering the performance we need.

Made entirely from renewable raw materials and developed as an alternative for all diesel engines, HVO 100 produces up to 90% lower CO₂ emissions.

Electric mobility

Our company cars run on electricity and can be charged at both sites. In the shuttle segment, an electric limousine also delivers excellent service.

Ongoing tests of alternative drives in scheduled service underline our keen interest in the latest developments. Wherever feasible, the bus fleet is to be converted to electric buses.

Further sustainability measures

Photovoltaics

The roofs of our two company buildings in Sölden and Ötztal-Bahnhof are equipped with a total of 90 m² of photovoltaic modules (as of 2024). Roughly half of the electricity is used by Ötztaler itself; the rest is fed into the public grid.

Gentle vehicle cleaning

Cleaning with a clear conscience: our modern wash facility cleans vehicles especially efficiently and with low water consumption. Ecological cleaning agents are used throughout.

High building standards

All newly built company facilities use the eco-friendly material wood and an energy-efficient design. The Sölden site is heated with geothermal energy. Energy-saving lighting is the standard across the entire company.

Further measures

Garaged buses so that vehicles do not need to be heated or cooled. Staff apartments to avoid long commutes. And much more.
